International Symposium on Automotive Lighting (ISAL) 2025 – Darmstadt

The ISAL 2025 once again brings together international experts from research, industry, and regulatory bodies to present the latest developments in vehicle and road lighting. Since its founding in 1995 at TU Darmstadt, the symposium has been held every two years and serves as a central platform for sharing knowledge, innovations, and best practices.

Topics & Focus Areas 2025:

  • Sustainable Lighting: Projects such as “Nalyses” demonstrate ways to reduce the carbon footprint of highly complex vehicle components like headlights and promote circular economy approaches.
  • Headlamp Design & Sensor Integration: Innovative concepts combine LiDAR, radar, and lighting systems to create intelligent and efficient vehicle illumination.
  • Car2X Communication: New methods enable intuitive and safe interaction between automated vehicles and pedestrians, tested in virtual reality scenarios.
  • Vehicle Interior & Ambient Lighting: Light-based concepts help reduce motion sickness in autonomous vehicles by visualizing movement and enhancing the driving experience.

Exhibition & Innovation:

In addition to the technical presentations, the exhibition offers insights into the latest developments in the industry. Highlights include the use of mini-LEDs for dashboards and digital grilles, as well as advanced manufacturing technologies such as microlens arrays and molded silicone lenses. Visitors can directly experience the connection between research, innovation, and practical application.

ISAL 2025 thus serves as a key meeting point for engineers, researchers, industry representatives, and decision-makers who actively shape the future of vehicle lighting.
