We are pleased to share that our colleagues from the Institute of Product Development (IPeG) — including Myriam Maalaoui, Lennart Mesecke, Marcus Oel, Daniel Rosemann, Timo Stauß, and Roland Lachmayer — attended the DESIGN Conference 2026 organized by the The Design Society in Cavtat, Croatia.
The event provided an excellent platform for high-level academic exchange on core advancements in engineering design. Discussions predominantly focused on critical future-oriented paradigms, including Design for Sustainability, Additive Manufacturing, Digital Twins, and the overarching integration of Artificial Intelligence in product development.
Our team actively contributed to the scientific program by presenting current research findings across several key domains:

- “Design for additive manufacturing of multi-material microreactors: a simulative study on specific surface area and thermal management” (Lennart Mesecke et al.)
- “Automation of part preparation for PBF-LB/M–based additive repair of turbine blades” (Myriam Malaaoui et al.)
- ”Particle damping optimization and multi-material additive manufacturing of an atom chip bracket: a case study“ (Marcus Oel et al.)
- “From Earth gravity to microgravity: benchmarking additively manufactured particle-damped structures in the Einstein-Elevator” (Weijia Yu et al.)
The comprehensive program was further enriched by interactive workshops and insightful plenary sessions, driving forward collaborative insights in our field.
